Day 1 – Arrive Chiang Mai
Arrive Chiang Mai and transfer by private car, with a guide, to your hotel.
Stay three nights in Chiang Mai.
Day 2 – Chiang Mai
(Seat-in-coach tour) Travel north past spectacular scenery to Mae Taeng Elephant Camp. Watch a herd of elephants taking a bath in a mountain stream and see a demonstration of elephants at work in the remote jungle. After lunch at the camp, the adventure continues with bamboo rafting on the Mae Ping River. On the way back to the hotel, stop at an orchid farm. (B,L)
Day 3 – Chiang Mai
(Seat-in-coach tour) This morning’s tour visits the most vital temples in Chiang Mai; Wat Chedi Luang where the great chedi called Phra Chedi Luang is situated; Wat Phra Singh, built by King Pha Yu to house the bones of his father King Kam Fu; and Wat Phrathat Doi Suthep for a bird’s eye view from the vast temple terrace. Also visit Doi Pui to see the everyday life of the Meo Hilltribe. Afternoon at leisure. (B)
Day 4 – Chiang Mai – Golden Triangle – Chiang Rai
(Seat-in-coach tour) Travel on Chiang Rai and the Golden Triangle where the borders of Thailand, Laos and Myanmar meet on the mighty Mekong River. Enjoy an exhilarating boat ride and visit a Lao village for craft shopping. You will be dropped off at your hotel.
Stay two nights in Chiang Rai. (B,L)
Day 5 – Chiang Rai
(Private tour) Depart hotel in the morning by car to visit the Padong hill tribe village (Karen long neck) Continue by road onto Doi Mae Salong. Set in the picturesque and serene hill, Doi Mae Salong was once the community of Santi Khiri, the Chinese 93rd Divisions who escaped from the political tension in Burma in 1961. Today, Doi Mae Salong has become one of the main tourist attractions in Chiang Rai, offering succulent native Chinese cuisine, lovely houses with flowers and many plantations of fruit, coffee and tea while. Visit some of the many tribes at Yao and Akha villages and a Chinese tea plantation before returning to the hotel. (B,L)
Day 6 – Depart Chiang Rai
