Day 1 – Australia to Taipei
Fly with Singapore Airlines to Taipei and transfer to your hotel. (May be an overnight flight, depending on departure city.) Stay three nights at the Golden China Hotel.
Day 2 – Taipei
Travel to Keelung to visit Chung Ching Park and see the huge statue of the Goddess of Mercy and the panoramic view of Keelung Harbor. Continue on to Yehliu famed for its numerous rock formations, then the Northeast Coast, visiting Pitou Cape and the Chiufen villages, once centres of gold mining, and now quaint old villages, clinging to steep mountainsides. Day 3 – Taipei
Morning tour of Taipei City including visits to the impressive C.K.S. Memorial Hall, National Palace Museum, the Martyrs’ Shrine and Taipei Handicraft Centre. In the afternoon proceed to Wulai, to see the native tribesmen who were once the head hunters of Taiwan. (B)
Day 4 – Taipei to Sun Moon Lake
Drive to Sun Moon Lake located in the lofty mountains of central Taiwan. Stop at the Literature Warrior Temple dedicated to Confucius as Master of the Pen, and the Holy Monk Shrine. Tour the scenic lake. Stay one night at the Fleur De Chine Hotel. (B)
Day 5 – Sun Moon Lake to Kaohsiung
Drive to Fo Guang Shan Buddhist Monastery and take a walking tour through the grounds. If you wish, join the monks for a vegetarian lunch (at your own cost). Travel on to Kaohsiung City, the second largest city in Taiwan, visiting Love River and Lio Ho Night Market. Stay one night at the Grand Hi-Lai Hotel. (B)
Day 6 – Kaohsiung to Taitung
Kenting National Park, on Taiwan’s southern tip, is visited this morning. See miles of coral rimmed shoreline, stopping at Oluanpi light house, Maopitou coast scenic area and Kenting forest recreation area. Travel on via Southern Link Highway, to Taitung, staying overnight at the Hotel Royal Chihpen. (B)
Day 7 – Taitung to Hualien
Enjoy a scenic drive along the East Coast National Scenic Area, a 170 kilometre section of coastline with an interesting array of landforms caused by weather and erosion. Stay one night in Hualien at the Silks Place Taroko. (B)
Day 8 – Taroko National Park to Taipei
Spend the whole day in Taroko National Park. Taroko Gorge is an exceptionally beautiful, narrow ravine cut deep into mountains of solid marble. The road through the park is carved into sheer walls of rock snaking between forested peaks. Stops will be made at Swallow Grotto, Eternal Spring Shrine and Cingshui Cliff. Return to Taipei via the Syue-Shang long tunnel. Stay two nights at the Golden China Hotel. (B)
Day 9 – Yangmingshan excursion and Taipei by night
Morning at leisure. Afternoon visit Yangmingshan National Park, the mountainous volcanic area north of Taipei City, famous for its beautiful scenery and abundant natural resources. Soak in a refreshing hot spring bath before an evening treat of a dumpling dinner at Ding Tai Fung. Then there will still be time for visits to some of Taipei’s famous night markets. (B,D)
Day 10 – Depart Taipei
At leisure until check out and transfer to the airport for departure flight. (B)

If beginning on a Thursday, Saturday, or Sunday, the number of nights spent in Taipei at the start and end of the tour will be adjusted to fit with a Monday departure from Taipei to Sun Moon Lake, maintaining an 11-day tour with all sightseeing inclusions.
