Thu Day 1: Arrive Beijing (No Meals)
**This is a set-departure group tour with Day 1 being Thursday
Fly to Beijing. (Flight not included.). On arrival take a guided transfer to your hotel.
Stay three nights at the Dong Fang Hotel (Standard room), or similar in Beijing.
Fri Day 2: Beijing (B,L)
Today you will visit the famous sights of Beijing including the Tian’anmen Square and the majestic Forbidden City (the “exhibitions” are not included). After a Chinese lunch at a local restaurant, continue to visit the Temple of Heaven. Enjoy a tea ceremony before returning to your hotel.
Sat Day 3: Mutianyu Great Wall excursion (B,L)
Travel north from the city to the Mutinyu section of the Great Wall of China where you can walk on top of the wall and appreciate the scale of this remarkable structure as it snakes down valleys and along ridge lines as far as the eye can see. (cable car tickets are not included.) Chinese lunch at a local restaurant, followed by a tour of the Summer Palace, the summer retreat of the imperial court set in beautiful gardens with lakes and pavilions (boat trip, theatre and Longevity Hill are not included.)
Sun Day 4: Beijing – Xian (B,L)
In the morning tour the Hutongs, Beijing’s ancient, narrow streets. Chinese lunch at a local family or a local restaurant, followed by a guided transfer to Beijing West train station for a high-speed train to Xi’an. (approximately 5-6 hours, 2ndclass seating).
On disembarking the train at Xi’an train station, proceed to the main exit gate to mee your group tour guide and take a guided transfer to your hotel.
Arrive Xian early this morning and transfer to your hotel for breakfast. Visit the Shaanxi Provincial Museum, one of the best museums in China, the Muslim Quarter, the Great Mosque, and the Big Wild Goose Pagoda, built to house Buddhist scriptures. Stay two nights at the Aurum International Hotel (Standard room), or similar, in Xian.
Mon Day 5: Xian (B,L)
Today you will see another amazing sight; the Terracotta Warriors and Horses still standing in battle formation as placed 2000 years ago. Tour the main exhibition halls where excavation and restoration work is on going. Visit the Terra-cotta figure making factory before a Chinese lunch at a local restaurant.
Tue Day 6: Xian – Shanghai By Overnight Train (B,L)
Walk along the top of 600-year-old City Wall (cycling not included). Also tour the Muslin Quarter and the Great Mosque.
Chinese lunch at a local restaurant, followed by a guided transfer to Xi’an train station for an overnight train to Shanghai, leaving Xi’an at 15:06 pm.
Stay overnight on the Train Number ……. (4-sleeper cabin to share by 4 passengers**)
**Regardless of your hotel booking throughout the tour being in twin/double/triple sharing or single occupancy, each passenger will only have 1 sleeper on the train, in a 4-shared cabin.
Wed Day 7: Arrive Shanghai (B,L)
Arrive in Shanghai at 06:13 am and take a guided transfer to your hotel. Have breakfast at the hotel then visit the sublime Yu Garden.
Chinese lunch at a local restaurant, followed by a further afternoon Shanghai city tour including the Jade Buddha Temple, a walk along the popular Nanjing Road, and the Bund.
Stay two nights at the Holiday Inn Express Shanghai Putuo Hotel (Standard room), or similar, in Shanghai.
Thu Day 8: Zhujiajiao Excursion (B,L)
Travel to the quaint canal town of Zhujiajiao this morning to wander amongst the old workshops and stone houses. Chinese lunch at a local restaurant.
In the afternoon, explore the former French Concession and visit a silk factory before returning to the hotel.
Fri Day 9: Depart Shanghai (B)
Leisure time until transfer (vehicle with driver) to Shanghai airport. (Flight not included.)
