Thu Day 1: Arrive Beijing  (No Meals)
**This is a set-departure group tour with Day 1 being Thursday
Fly to Beijing. (Flight not included.). On arrival take a guided transfer to your hotel
Stay three nights at the Grand Gongda Jianguo Hotel (Standard room), or similar in Beijing.

Fri Day 2: Beijing (B,L)
Today you will visit the famous sights of Beijing including the Tian’anmen Square and the majestic Forbidden City**(the “exhibitions” are not included). **Visits to Lama temple and Confucius temple will be arranged if tickets for the Forbidden City may not be available during peak season.)
After a Chinese lunch at a local restaurant, continue to visit the Temple of Heaven. Enjoy a tea ceremony before returning to your hotel.

Sat Day 3: Mutianyu Great Wall excursion (B,L)
Travel north from the city to the Mutinyu section of the Great Wall of China where you can walk on top of the wall and appreciate the scale of this remarkable structure as it snakes down valleys and along ridge lines as far as the eye can see. (cable car tickets are not included.) Chinese lunch at a local restaurant, followed by a tour of the Summer Palace, the summer retreat of the imperial court set in beautiful gardens with lakes and pavilions (boat trip, theatre and Longevity Hill are not included.)

Sun Day 4: Beijing – Xian (B,L)
In the morning tour the Hutongs, Beijing’s ancient, narrow streets. Chinese lunch at a local restaurant, followed by a guided transfer to Beijing West train station for a high-speed train to Xi’an. (approximately 5-6 hours, 2nd class seating). On arrival in Xi’an take a guided transfer to your hotel.
Stay two nights at the Grand Dynasty Culture Hotel (Standard room), or similar, in Xian.

Mon Day 5: Xian (B,L)
Today you will see another amazing sight; the Terracotta Warriors and Horses still standing in battle formation as placed 2000 years ago. Tour the main exhibition halls where excavation and restoration work is on going. Chinese lunch at a local restaurant. In the afternoon, visit the Big Wild Goose Pagoda and stop at a Jade factory en route to the hotel.

Tue Day 6: Xian – Chengdu (B)
Take a guided transfer to Xi’an train station for a high-speed train to Chengdu (2nd class seating).
On arrival in Chengdu, embark on a guided tour of the city including the People’s Park, the Wide & Narrow Alleys before checking into your hotel. Stay one night at the Dorsett Grand Hotel Chengdu (Standard room), or similar, in Chengdu.

Wed Day 7: Chengdu – Chongqing – Yangtze River Cruise (B,L)
Visit Dujiangyan Giant Panda Base. Lunch at a local Chinese restaurant, followed by a guided transfer to Chengdu train station for a high-speed train to Chongqing (2nd class seating.) On arrival in Chonqing take a guided transfer to the pier to embark your river vessel for a leisurely river cruise downstream to Yichang,  Dinner is not included on board the cruise today. Stay three nights on the Victoria Cruise (Standard cabin), or similar, on the Yangtze.

Thu Day 8: Yangtze River Cruise (B,L,D)
Continue your cruise on the mighty Yangtze River with a stop at either Ghost City Fengdu, or the Fengdu Mount Shuanggui Scenic Region. The evening provides an opportunity to attend an information meeting on board the cruise vessel with details and facts about the river and its famous locations.

Fri Day 9: Yangtze River Cruise (B,L,D)
Cruise past through Qutang Gorge, the first of the famous three gorges. Continue on to Wu Gorge, the last of the three gorges, bordered by cultivated fields that overhang at almost impossible angles.

Optional shore excursion to White Emperor City (surcharge applies on board the cruise, if required). Shore excursion to Shennong /Shennv Stream, providing a chance to stretch your legs on land and explore. Back on board we head towards the Western Part of Xiling Gorge, a famous thoroughfare for shipping throughout the centuries, before passing the ship locks and heading to the majestic 3 Gorges Dam, China’s largest engineering operation since the Great Wall.

 Sat Day 10: Yichang – Shanghai  (B,L)
Breakfast on board the cruise before a shore excursion and chance to encounter the Three Gorges Dam.
Disembarking at Maoping and enjoy a shore excursion to the Three Gorge Dam

Lunch at local restaurant or packed lunch prepared for you, followed by a guided transfer to Yichang train station for a high-speed train to Shanghai (2nd class seating, around 8 hours)
On arrival in Shanghai take a guided transfer to your hotel.
Stay three nights at the Golden Tulip Shanghai Rainbow Hotel  (Standard room), or similar, in Shanghai. 

Sun Day 11: Shanghai (B,L)
In the morning, wander through the classical Yu Gardens. a 400-year-old attraction with exquisite pavilions, rockeries, ponds and cloisters. After Chinese lunch at a local restaurant, continue to visit the Jade Buddha Temple, Nanjing Road, the Bund, the Former French Concession and a silk factory.

Mon Day 12: Shanghai (B)
A day of leisure.

Tue Day 13: Depart Shanghai (B)
Leisure time until transfer (vehicle with driver) to Shanghai airport. (Flight not included.)
