  • Itinerary

    Day 1 – Arrive Bangkok
    Meet your guide on arrival at Bangkok airport and take a private guided transfer to your hotel.
    Stay three nights at the Siam Heritage Hotel in Bangkok.
    Day 2 – Bangkok
    Day at leisure. (B)
    OPTIONAL: Ayutthaya seat-in-coach day tour including lunch, AUD $156 pp.
    Day 3 – Damnoen Saduak Market
    Drive to Damnoen Saduak for the lively and colourful floating market. Afternoon at leisure. (B)
    Day 4 – Bangkok – Kanchanaburi
    Drive to Kanchanaburi and the legendary River Kwai. Visit the Thai-Burma Railway Centre & War Museum, war cemetery and the infamous Bridge over the River Kwai. Take a long-tailed boat to your hotel, passing unspoiled mountainous scenery and majestic gorges. Visit the Hell Fire Pass Memorial with a chance to walk along the original track of the Death Railway. Dinner is at the hotel, followed by a Mon Dance show. Stay one night at the River Kwai Resotel. (B,L,D)
    Day 5 – River Kwai – Bangkok
    Visit the Hellfire Pass Memorial and take an historic train ride on the Death Railway, passing lush forest and the original wooden viaducts built by prisoners of war during WW II. Return to Bangkok, arriving early evening. Stay one night at the Siam Heritage Hotel. (B,L)
    Day 6 – Bangkok – Chiang Rai
    Transfer to Bangkok airport for the flight to Chiang Rai. Stay two nights at the Nak Nakara Hotel in Chiang Rai. (B)
    Day 7 – Chiang Rai
    Day at leisure. (B)
    OPTIONAL: Chiang Rai city tour, private guided half day tour, without lunch, AUD $170pp, based on minimum 2 passengers.
    Day 8 – Chiang Rai – Golden Triangle – Chiang Mai
    Travel by coach to the Golden Triangle where the borders of Thailand, Laos and Myanmar meet on the mighty Mekong River. Stop en-route at a hot spring and small villages. Stay three nights at the Rimping Village Hotel in Chiang Mai. (B,L)
    Day 9 – Chiang Mai
    On a morning tour visit an elephant work site and see these intelligent creatures in action. Visit an orchid farm, and then a walk through Doi Pui to see the everyday life of the Meo hill tribe. Have a bird’s eye view from the vast temple terrace of Wat Phra Dhat Doi Suthep in the mountains above Chiang Mai. Afternoon at leisure. (B)
    Day 10 – Elephant Sanctuary
    Today’s visit to the Elephant Jungle Sanctuary offers the opportunity to get to know the remarkable elephants and gain understanding of their daily life as they freely roam in their natural environment.
    Walk with the elephants to a nearby river where you will have the opportunity to bathe and brush them while they enjoy wading through the water. Enjoy a swim yourself before a walk through a Karen village and return to Chiang Mai. (B,L)
    Day 11 – Depart Chiang Mai
    Transfer to the airport. (B)
