Sabah Explorer 7 Days

Day 1: Arrive Kota Kinabalu (No Meals)
Fly to Kota Kinabalu (flight not included). On arrival, private transfer (vehicle with driver) to your hotel.
Note: A mandatory Tourism Tax (currently MYR 10 per room per night) is payable directly to the hotel upon check-in.
Stay one night at Gaya Centre Hotel (Superior room).

Day 2: Kota Kinabalu – Kinabalu Park – Kundasang (B,L,D)
Depart early for a 2-hour scenic drive to Kinabalu Park, passing villages and paddy fields along the Crocker Range. Stop at Nabalu Market to see local produce, handicrafts, and views of Mount Kinabalu. Continue to Poring Hot Springs for lunch, then visit the Canopy Walkway, suspended 41 metres above the ground, and the Butterfly Farm. Optionally, enjoy a soak in the outdoor Japanese-style tubs with natural hot sulphuric minerals.
Stay one night at Sabah Tea Garden Resort (Cottage room).

Day 3: Kundasang – Sandakan – Kinabatangan (B,L,D)
Enjoy a sunrise view of Mount Kinabalu and the mist-covered tea plantations. After breakfast, join a Tea Factory Educational Tour. Travel overland to Bilit for a briefing, then take an afternoon cruise along the 560 km-long Kinabatangan River to spot wildlife. Dinner and overnight stay at the lodge.
Note: A mandatory Tourism Tax applies (MYR 10 per room per night).
Stay two nights at Bilit Adventure Lodge (A/C Superior room).
Optional: Night walk at 20:00, bookable and payable locally. Recommended to bring a torch, insect repellent, raincoat, hat, binoculars, and sun protection. Wear good walking shoes and comfortable clothing.

Day 4: Kinabatangan (B,L,D)
Take an early morning wildlife cruise, followed by breakfast. Embark on a guided jungle walk to learn about riverine forest vegetation, then return for lunch. In the afternoon, join a second river cruise in search of more wildlife. Dinner at the lodge.

Day 5: Kinabatangan – Sandakan (B)
Morning departure for Sandakan, with drop-off at your hotel. Rest of the day at leisure.
Note: A mandatory Tourism Tax applies (MYR 10 per room per night).
Stay two nights at Sabah Hotel (Superior room).

Day 6: Sandakan (B,L)
Visit the Sepilok Orang Utan Rehabilitation Centre to observe orangutans in their natural habitat and witness the morning feeding. Continue to the Orangutan Nursery, then visit the Bornean Sun Bear Conservation Centre.
Visitor Guidelines:

  • Keep belongings secure and valuables hidden.
  • Bring only your camera, video equipment (fees apply), and raincoat.
  • Do not bring insect repellent into the feeding areas.
  • Feeding or touching the animals is prohibited.
    After lunch, return to the hotel. Balance of the day free.

Day 7: Depart Sandakan (B)
Leisure time until private transfer (vehicle with driver) to Sandakan Airport (flight not included).
