Yangtze Experience 4 and 5 Days

UPRIVER CRUISE – 4 nights
Day 1 – Yichang – Board ship
You will be met on arrival at Yichang airport or rail station and transferred to the Yangtze Tourist Centre. Transfer from there by coach to Maoping port to board your five star Yangtze River cruise ship for departure this evening. Settle in and become familiar with the ship’s facilities and sailing schedule (they may differ slightly to the cruise described below). Accommodation is in twin or double bedded cabins with en-suite and balcony. A variety of entertainment and shore excursions are included.
Day 2 – Cruising
Visit the massive Three Gorges Dam, the largest engineering project of modern times, and gain some insight into the impact of this project on the nations’ economy and people. Sail through the first of the famous Three Gorges, Xiling Gorge. (B,L,D)
Day 3 – Cruising
Board smaller boats for an excursion to the Lesser Three Gorges, or the Shennong Stream, depending on the cruise schedule. Be transported through twisting river vistas of towering cliffs and tumbling waters, interspersed with glimpses of farm life and small villages. Back on board your cruise ship, sail through the Wu and Qutang Gorges (B,L,D)
Day 4 – Cruising
The shore excursion today is to the striking wooden structure on the cliff face at Shibaozhai, or perhaps the ‘Ghost City’ of Fengdu with its temple devoted to the king of the underworld. (B,L,D)
Day 5 – Chongqing
Your cruise ends with disembarkation at Chongqing this morning. (B)
DOWNRIVER CRUISE – 3 nights
Day 1 – Board ship in Chongqing
You will be met on arrival at Chongqing airport or rail station and transferred to Chongqing wharf to board your Yangtze River cruise ship for departure this evening. Settle in and become familiar with the ship’s facilities and sailing schedule (they may differ slightly to the cruise described below). Accommodation is in two bedded cabins. A variety of entertainment and shore excursions are included.
Day 2 – Cruising
Take a shore excursion to the ‘Ghost City’ of Fengdu with its temple devoted to the king of the underworld. Back on board this evening there will be a Captain’s cocktail party and fashion show. (B,L,D)
Day 3 – Cruising
Enter the first of the famous Three Gorges, Qutang Gorge. Sail on to Wu Gorge, then change to a small boat to travel along Shennong Stream. Be transported through twisting river vistas of towering cliffs and tumbling waters, interspersed with glimpses of farm life and small villages. Back on board, enter Xiling Gorge, the longest and deepest of the Three Gorges. (B,L,D)
Day 4 – Arrive Yichang
Disembark the ship at Maoping and visit the massive Three Gorges Dam. Transfer by coach to Yichang late this morning. (B)
